A 27-year-old Limpopo woman has been arrested after her two sons, aged six and eight, died in a suspected poisoning incident in Madabani Village.

A LIMPOPO mum arrested.

This comes after her two young sons, aged six and eight, died in what police suspect may have been a poisoning incident.

The incident occurred in Madabani Village under the Tshilwavhusiku policing area on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

First child dies at clinic

Police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the first victim, a six-year-old boy, was rushed to the Tshilwavhusiku Health Centre by his dad after complaining of severe stomach pains, diarrhoea and vomiting.

"When police arrived at the clinic at around 11.10am, they found the kid had already died," said Ledwaba.

Second boy found dead

Just over an hour later, at around 12.30pm, police received a report that an eight-year-old boy had gone missing from school.

Ledwaba said the second victim was also found deceased.

"A search was launched and the youngster was later found dead on a bed inside his home in Madabani Village."

Emergency Medical Services declared him deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the two boys were brothers and that both are suspected to have been poisoned.

Mum arrested

The discovery prompted an intensive police investigation, which led to the arrest of a 27-year-old woman believed to be the boys' mum on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.

She's expected to appear in the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrates Court on two counts of murder.

Police haven't yet established motive for the alleged killings.

A postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the kids' deaths.

Amagata investigations are continuing

"The suspect was arrested following preliminary investigations, and motive for the incident remains unknown at this stage," said Ledwaba.
