Now that the elections are over, twin brothers Siphiwe and Simphiwe Vilakazi say they’re relieved.

The 37-year-old twins, who have shared the stage with popular comedians, said they understand that elections stir emotions and some people act out of character.

Before the 4 November 2026 elections, Daily Sun reported that the twins were mocked on social media after they were seen wearing ANC regalia.

“Before the elections, we were called names for supporting the ANC. That was a hard time for us. We were cyberbullied.

“At first, we got upset and tried to defend ourselves every time we were mocked. But we later understood that emotions were still high.

“When emotions are high, people tend to act out of character. As much as we sometimes got upset, we knew after the elections, we’d be free from the insults,” said Simphiwe.

He said they didn’t only get insulted — they were also threatened and told the industry would cancel them. He added there was a social media campaign to make people unfollow them.

Simphiwe said they became involved in politics while they were at university.

“We’ve always been known as ANC members, even at university. And we’ve never been mocked before.

“But we’re glad the elections are over. We don’t feel unsafe at all. We don’t believe our lives are in danger.

“And we don’t think the industry can cancel us just because we support a political party,” he said.
