SINGER and songwriter, Berita graduates and sets her sights on an MBA.
The Afro-soul artist, whose real is name Gugulethu Khumalo, is celebrating more than just musical success, she's officially a graduate.
The 34-year-old Thandolwethu hitmaker recently earned a business degree, a decision she said was sparked by a need to better manage her music career.
Speaking to Daily Sun, the Zimbabwean-born, Joburg-based singer revealed that starting her own music company made her realise she lacked skills to run a business effectively.

"I've always been curious and eager to grow. I've been in the music industry for 11 years. Seven years ago, I started my own company to manage my music. That's when I realised I didn't have the business knowledge I needed," said Berita.
Coming from a background where entrepreneurship wasn't a common sight, Berita made the bold move to return to school.
"I never stopped performing. I paid my fees from my shows, weddings, private functions, corporate gigs, you name it. When school became overwhelming, I'd turn to music to ease stress. And when music became stressful, I'd dive into my studies. They balanced each other out."
Berita said the academic journey has given her a clearer vision for the future of her music and brand.
"I went into it with purpose, to empower myself and grow my career. It taught me discipline and helped me realise I can do more than one thing if I manage my time and energy," she said.
Looking ahead, Berita is not slowing down.
She has her eyes set on pursuing an MBA next and has already confirmed several upcoming performances.
"Watch this space. I'll be performing at Mayibuye iAfrica at the Joburg Theatre on 28 and 29 June and I'm also part of the line-up for this year's Joy of Jazz festival at the Sandton Convention Centre from 26 to 28 September," she said.
