SITHEMBISO Ntshangase, known as Ceejay Canvas, went to try his luck in Idols SA Season 18 with the hope to fulfil his dream of becoming a successful musician.
Although he was voted out on Sunday, Ceejay said he hopes the Idols platform will open doors for him.
The 24-year-old from KwaDukuza in KZN reached the top eight in the competition.
"I'm saying that I'm seeing the light at the end of tunnel because I know now my dream is about to come true. I know previous contestants who didn't win but are superstars today because of the doors that the competition opened for them," said Ceejay.

"I hope my talent will also be noticed in the music industry. I wouldn't have reached the top eight if I wasn't talented, and if I wasn't voted for by music fans."
He said he is continuing to make music with his friend Nhlaka Canvas in his backroom.
Ceejay's big dream is to become one of Mzansi's biggest superstars. He's interested in Afro-pop and amapiano.
"I call upon record labels to consider signing me. I won't accept any contract, I'll be careful because I've seen artists being robbed. I don't want to become a victim."

Although he is grateful for the opportunity to showcase his talent in Idols, he doesn't see himself going back.
"This was my second time in the competition. But I'm not going back next year. I'll focus on building my brand as an artist," he said.
