AFRO-SOUL superstar finally breaks silence about her explosive split from controversial music boss Nhlamulo "Nota" Baloyi.
Multi-award-winning Afro-Soul sensation Berita has broken her silence about her much-publicised split from controversial music executive and media personality, Nhlamulo "Nota" Baloyi.
The Ndicel'ikiss hitmaker, whose real name is Gugulethu Khumalo, opened up in a heartfelt interview on The Voice with Palesa, shedding light on the rise and fall of their once-promising marriage.
Berita (34) married Nota in 2020 during the national Covid-19 lockdown. At the time, the pair appeared to be the perfect match, working closely together both professionally and personally.
Nota even played a role in the production of her album Songs in the Key of Love.
"We built a private relationship a good one. By 2020, we were already heading into lockdown. He helped with my album, and we were supporting each other. But something changed during that time," Berita said.

According to Berita, things took a drastic turn as Nota began stepping into the public eye with his controversial opinions and bold online commentary.
"He decided he wanted to be a critic, to use his voice differently. At the time, as a supportive wife, I didn't have a problem with it. I thought, 'If this is who you are, go ahead and speak up'. But then people started saying, 'This guy talks too much', and it began to affect me," she said.
The Afro-Soul singer explained that social media played a major role in their marriage problems, as Nota's growing online presence clashed with her more reserved public persona.
"You marry someone thinking you know them, then they develop a new personality, one they bring out in front of the camera. It's fine until that personality starts harming you," she said.
Berita revealed that she tried to raise concerns about their separate brands and public images, but her efforts were dismissed.
"When I asked how we could manage it, he told me it's not his fault. I'm quiet and don't speak up. He said if his words online affect me, that's not his problem," she said.
The couple officially separated in 2022, just two years after tying the knot. Since then, Berita has been rebuilding her life and career, choosing peace over drama.
"I'm sharing this because I know many people are in relationships where their partners change, especially under the spotlight of social media," she added.
