He said party had always seen this sector as nothing more than just an afterthought.

KWAITO legend Eugene Mthethwa is waging war against corruption in the Department of Sports Arts and Culture.

On Wednesday, 7 June, Mthethwa was sworn in as the new EFF member of parliament, and on Thursday, 8 June, he made his first parliament speech.

He was responding to the Minister of Sports Arts and Culture, Zizi Kodwa's budget speech.

He said artists should start rallying behind the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) because it's the only political organisation that cares about the creative industry.

He then accused ANC of using artists only for their election campaigns, only to dump them like used condoms after the elections.

"We rejected this budget vote when we participated in the debate. We want to reiterate the view that this department has completely ignored the cultural and creative workers in this country, such that many of our legendary artists, actors, sportsmen and women are dying and being buried as paupers.

"The minister speaks of discovering, developing and encouraging national talent. We all know that it is a myth, as there has never been a single programme that searches for raw talent under the ANC government unless the minister wants to falsely claim to be running Pop Idols," said Eugene.

He said ANC had always seen this sector as nothing more than just an afterthought.

He further accused the Department of Sports Arts and Culture of turning a blind eye to the Comrades Marathon and Vitality Netball World Cup 2023.

"But if it was the useless Bafana Bafana or the Springbok participating in a World Cup, we would be hearing so much just like the recent fake appreciation, only shown and claimed by the department to those who have won the Grammy Awards," Eugene said.

He said the ruling party had lost its political compass to appreciate and develop local awards to the level of global interest.

"It is not surprising that South Africa under the corrupt ANC can see sponsoring Tottenham Hotspurs being a priority as opposed to our own greats in the likes of Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, among others.

"This is a government that cannot even keep lights on for its citizens nor create jobs for many youths, some of who have graduated and are still unemployed, the useless governing party that has become insensitive to the sufferings and silent cries of the poor black people, instead year in year out," Eugene said as he blasted the ANC.
