Gospel singer Kgotso Makgalema reveals how alcohol, drugs and escort clubs destroyed his marriage and career.

GOSPEL singer Kgotso Makgalema is picking up his life after hectic few years.

The Messiah hitmaker said he has become active again on social media platforms to share his performances.

He has been met with warm embraces from his fans who are glad to see him back.

Kgotso, who was part of Joyous Celebration and Spirit of Praise, also recently opened up about how alcohol, drugs and sex ruined his life, his first marriage and his blooming career in a YouTube podcast.

"The issue of alcohol wasn't a contributing factor to my demise. I think the alcohol issue was more about me not growing up. I wanted to impress friends. I used to buy for the guys. I'd buy meat, alcohol and even buy girls.

"I would go to escort clubs. I wasn't afraid to go to those places as a gospel star. At the time, I didn't care, I was deep in it. It wasn't fame and it wasn't pride. It was ignorance. I wasn't thinking that I'm older now and that I was growing up, I was married, and I was a father. Those things hadn't registered in my mind," he said.

The singer from Sebokeng in Vaal told Daily Sun that he spent the past few years trying to recover from the storm that came with his career.

"I was spending time with myself and being with family. I was also working on some projects. But most importantly, I was trying to get spiritual upliftment," he said.

He said that he didn't disappear, and he didn't take a break. Although he wasn't releasing new music, he was still performing.

"I'm not really trying to get back. I've always been there, performing from time to time. I've been in the game. I've been building my brand and trying to get in the studio, and I managed to finally do that and record a single. I just haven't been out there on social media," he said.

The singer also thanked his fans for continuing to support him.

"It feels good. I've been receiving support from my fans for a very long time. I have not reached out to them, and they've been reaching out to me. Someone told me they've been trying to reach me, but I haven't been available on social media.

"I want to say thank you to those who've been supporting me. I just checked Spotify, and I saw that I have 145 000 streams, which is good for a South African gospel artist. I'm grateful for support from South Africans. But not just them, I've been getting messages from Africa as a whole, Europe, Asia and the USA," he said.

Kgotso said he'll be releasing a new single soon.

"I'll be finishing my single very soon. I can't share much about it, but I can say the song is called Lona Baratang Ho Phela. South Africans will love it. It will be a jam," he said.
