SINGER Nomabotwe Mtimkulu is grateful to the Lord and amadlozi.

The 38-year-old Nomabotwe from Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape believes that her God and ancestors have done it for her.

She told Daily Sun that she has learnt a lot from the artists she worked with and now it's time to shine.

The reception from fans has been amazing for her and they've received her album, Hamba Ungemi, well.

"It feels good to finally share my music with the world. It's a dream come through. Something I've always wanted for myself, to share my gift with the world," she said.

Nomabotwe was a backup singer for 18 years. She used to sing with stars such as Ringo Madlingozi and Rock Royalty, just to mention a few.

She said that she feels honoured and grateful.

"I have finally been able to do what I love and step into the spotlight. It hasn't been easy. It took a lot of practise, perseverance and dedication," she said.

Nomabotwe Hamba Ungemi means Go on, don't stop.

"I chose this title because I wrote a song and named it Hamba Ungemi. With that song, I was trying to inspire myself at a very difficult time in my musical journey. I chose this tittle to inspire other people that they shouldn't give up on their dreams. Rest if you need to rest, but continue with your journey and fulfil your dreams," she said.

She said that recording the album was also beautiful.

"I've used all the experience and knowledge I acquired along the years, and it has helped me create an album that is beautiful and authentic. Most of the songs on the album are songs I'm given in my sleep, and I hold that gift close to my heart," she said.

She shared lessons she got from working with big artists.

"Some of the lessons I've learnt from the icons include consistency, stage presence, and time management. These lessons have helped become a better artist," she said.
