DJ LADY Shiks is ending the year on a high note!
She was recently crowned Best Female DJ at the Limpopo Music Awards and on the same night she released her new amapiano single titled Cina, featuring Simefree.
After over 10 years being in the entertainment industry, this Bachelor of Science in water and sanitation degree-holder has received many nominations before, including in the same category she's just won in.
"People should not give up. Nothing comes easy but keep on working on your craft, one day it will pay off," said Lady Shiks, whose real name is Dyondzo Shikwambane.
She said this award is dedicated to all kids, especially those from villages like hers, Dzingidzingi Village in Limpopo.

"I want them to look at me and be inspired every day that if a person like me, who is the same as them, can make it, then it's possible for them as well."
Lady Shiks believes though being a DJ is a beautiful craft, education is the most important thing.
"When you are educated it helps you not only gain respect but helps you make wise intellectual decisions. For example, you won't succumb to the pressure of sleeping with producers to get gigs. When you are educated and blessed to have a 9 to 5 job like me, you know you've got something that sustains your well-being except gig money. It's also good to have something to fall back on if this doesn't work."
Asked why the single was released the same night as the awards, she said: "I had a date set long before the awards ceremony date was announced. However, it did work in my favour because this song brings so much vibe as the festive season is close."
She plans to release an EP next year.
Lady Shiks is currently working on establishing a new social programme called the Lady Shiks Foundation, which will include some of her projects like Becoming a Queen.
She established the Becoming a Queen concert in March this year.

The project aims to help collect sanitary pads for under-privileged rural girls.
Only female DJs played at the concert, and four packs of sanitary pads were the entrance fee.
