A LOT of artists are struggling to break through in the entertainment industry.

While some get their big breaks early in their careers, others take years before they're well-known.

Socialite and DJ, Keith Da Mamba believes there are talented artists who aren't pushed enough.

The 30-year-old Eswatini-born, and Joburg-based socialite said gatekeeping kicks many artists out of the industry.

He said the industry isn't easy to crack into.

Keith Da Mamba will be releasing a song titled Vula Vula that talks about gatekeeping in showbiz.

"A lot of people get a lot of rejection, and those with whom I've collaborated on the song have faced gatekeeping and are talented.

"Even though I'm good and have a good work ethic, you get shut out. When I wanted to do music, people said they didn't like my personality. They should have focused on my talent and work ethic," Keith said."I'm open about being bisexual. It's not a secret, and I know there's still a lot of homophobia in the country, and I'm trying my best to fit in."

He said many people hide their sexuality to avoid being judged.

"A lot of people can't express themselves because, in the industry, you need to look a certain way. If you don't, they don't let you in," he said.

"One thing I've realised is: don't be afraid to get help. I can meet someone who might help me make strides in the industry."
