SWEET and very talented.
Those are the words used to describe the late legendary footballer, Lucas "Masterpieces" Moripe.
Family, friends, and fans have gathered at the Saulsville Arena in Tshwane on Tuesday, 26 November, for the memorial service of the former Orlando Pirates and Pretoria Bantu Callies Football Club player.
Masterpieces passed away on 19 November 2024 at Kalafong Hospital in Tshwane.
Former Pretoria Bantu Callies defender Johannes Baloyi (74) said they're celebrating one of their own.

"He was sweet. He was a very talented and extraordinary player," he said.
"He said that even though he didn't come for training, he displayed good football more than us," he said.

Another former Pretoria Bantu Callies Football Club defender, Ben Mathe (74), said: "He was a good player, and he was respectful and sweet."

Dr Charley Pietersen, author and life coach, said he wrote a book called Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Modimo wa Bolo South African Legend, and the book was supposed to be launched in the first week of December 2024.
"It was heartbreaking when I received the sad news about his death. I was with him two weeks before his death. Masterpieces Moripe never benefitted in his whole life as a football player."
Family spokesman Oupa Moripe said that they're honouring and celebrating the life of the dribbling wizard who played football with such ease.
"We're happy to see all the people coming to honour the legend," he said.
